Improve Relationship with our Semiahmoo neighbours
The Semiahmoo First Nation lands are located between most of east Beach and the ocean, as our immediate neighbour, Every council for the past 20 years has been saying they want to improve relations with the Semiahmoo first nation neighbours, yet the last I heard is that the City threatened to cut off their water, and did not consult with them prior to the Promenade park renovation. Our children grew up playing on the Whale park, and played with our family dog on the wide open grassy park. This was the only park playground in east beach, and now there are none. About 8 years ago the relationship worsened, then the playground was removed, the lands were fenced off, and the public washrooms closed.
•Restore - Collaborative culture and arts events, • Clean up Bay- Work with Semiahmoo and the city of Blaine, to try and bring back the shellfish fishery, which has been closed since 1963!
Request that BNSF replace the creosote rail ties with concrete or another that does not leech 300,000 litres of carcinogenic PAH's into our bay
Install a sewage pump-out on the pier's dock.
Require the City to hold Environment Committee meetings every quarter (last one was in May 2017)
Ways toDonate ;) 1) NEW campaign rules this year stipulate that candidates for council can only donate $2,400 to their own campaign, and corporate donations are not allowed. If you are in favour of my priorities, any amounts received are used solely for the campaign materials. 2)If you can donate time to hand out cards, or flyers during your daily walk, please email me at ImagineWhiteRock@gmail.com 3) If you live on a busy street and would be ok with a sign on your lawn, please let me know. 4) If you own a business, and are ok with a small sign, please email. Thank you.
